ALL PROCEEDS TO THE DEC UKRAINE HUMANITARIAN APPEAL

We hope this special design will help raise money for the vital humanitarian aid supplied to Ukraine by the member charities of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).

The national bird of Ukraine, the nightingale, is often found in Ukrainian folk tales and folk songs. One story tells that many years ago, nightingales lived in India. One sunny spring day, a nightingale visited Ukraine and taken aback by the sadness he heard in the Ukrainian voices, began to sing his heart out. The people responded by singing the most uplifting songs they could and ever since, nightingales have visited Ukraine in springtime to join the people in singing happy songs.

Within the golden yellow petals of a Ukrainian sunflower, the nightingale perches on a willow branch and sings his uplifting song to the bees, giving them hope that Ukraine will once again be at peace.

To raise as much money as possible we need to keep our costs low, so please note that this design is available as a PDF download only. Once you've ordered, you'll receive an email with a link - click on the link to download the charts and all the instructions.

When completed, this piece will fit into a 5 inch hoop for easy framing - you could even wrap the hoop with blue and yellow ribbons to match the Ukrainian flag. Alternatively mount it on top of a pretty teacup or sugar bowl and turn it into a dainty pincushion for your favourite pins. It would also make a lovely lid for a gift box!
